RISE OVER RUN QUILT PATTERN (Scrappy)
Today is pattern release day for my newest quilt pattern, RISE OVER RUN. This is a beginner-friendly pattern made up almost entirely of HSTs (Half-Square Triangles). Yet, do not let this simple block fool you, as the design it creates is quite dramatic, and will offer even an experienced quilter a fast and fun quilting experience.
You may remember an earlier post I wrote about this quilt last month, sharing the unfinished quilt tops. I'm thrilled to be sharing the finished quilt and pattern with you today.
When I got the quilts back from Lilo, my friend and long-arm quilter, I couldn't resist snapping a quick photo. The quilts were just folded so nicely and showed off the quilting impeccably.
The pattern details...
RISE OVER RUN is a multi-sized pattern, so no matter if you need to make a baby quilt, a quilt for the couch, or one for a bed...you only need this one pattern to do all three.
- Crib = 42" x 54"
- Lap = 56" x 72"
- Twin = 70" x 90"
It is also a multi-variation pattern.
This pattern gives you several options when it comes to fabric and color choices. So if you want to make a Two-Color, Limited Palette, or Scrappy version, the quilts you make will all look different.
- Two-Color
- Limited Palette
- Scrappy
This post is all about the Scrappy version; but I'll be sharing more about the Two-Color version soon, and maybe the Limited Palette version at a later date.
Fabric selection.
I knew that I wanted something that would pop against the low-volume Grunge Basics background, and the Kona Cotton Birds of Paradise FQ bundle was perfect. This combination created a stark contrast; which is what I was going for.
What fabrics will you choose?
- Do you mix low-volumes with brights?
- Do you use fabric from all one collection?
- Do you like scrappy quilts?
RISE OVER RUN let's you do all of the above, so don't be afraid to venture out and try something new.
How is it quilted?
Lilo, from TraceCreekQuilting knew what to do. I leave the edge to edge quilting designs up to her, as I'm terrible at choosing. She used an allover design which looks a little like flames and offsets the bold colors nicely.
The PDF digital pattern is available from my PayHip shop or by clicking the Buy Now button here.
