Spring Bloom - Blog Hop & Giveaway

It's MY day today...well, in more ways then one actually; so hold that thought and check out this pretty picture while I grab some confetti.

St. Louis Folk Victorian // Kristy Daum -- Spring Bloom by Bella Caronia for Windham Fabrics

Several weeks ago, I was invited by Amanda Caronia, Designer Extraordinaire, to participate in a Blog Hop for her first fabric collection with Windham Fabrics...aptly named Spring Bloom.

Last Fall, I got a sneak peek of this collection when I designed and later made a quilt [Pathways] for the Windham Fabrics booth at Quilt Market in Houston...using the blue and green part of the collection. So, when Amanda invited me to play with her fabrics as part of the #SpringBloomMakers Blog Hop, I decided to play with the yellow and pink part of the palette this time.

This quilt is called FOUR SQUARED and is one that I designed for Windham Fabrics some time ago, although in a different collection.  I knew that this quilt would be a perfect fit for Spring Bloom because it not only highlights the focal fabric; but lets the companion pieces shine as well.  I built it in EQ7 and plopped in the Spring Bloom fabrics...

Then I got to play with the real thing...Thanks Windham!

Now, I wish that I could show you the completed quilt; but a combination of things haven't allowed me to finish it just yet.  For starters, I wanted to try out a new to me loopy free-motion quilted design and I didn't want to rush it...so you'll just have to stay tuned.

If you would like to make the FOUR SQUARED quilt, you can find the free pattern here.  I did make some modifications to the color placement, so you'll need some extra yardage of a few prints.

Now, remember when I said that this was MY day.  Well, it's partly because it's MY day on the Blog Hop; but it's also MY 36th Birthday.

[[ Throwing Confetti ]]

When Amanda coordinated the Blog Hop days she had no idea the day she asked me to host was in fact my Birthday; but I think it's pretty cool that on my Birthday, one of you will get the opportunity for a surprise.  The lovely folks at Windham Fabrics are offering the below 15-piece FQ stack to one lucky visitor...check out the details below the break.

Each stop on the Blog Hop has created a different project using the Spring Bloom collection; showing it's versatility, and each has a separate opportunity for a FQ stack.

  7. Happy Day, Kristy! I hope that it's bright and fun for you. Spring started in the best way for me with a quilting retreat. And the next event is a beach road trip with my non-quilting buddies. Did I mention that I retired this month? Spring 2015 - the best yet!
