Here is how it started.
I was trying to decide if I should participate in the #QuiltConPinSwap because of course you know I don't want to miss out.
Then I started thinking what I would put on the 1" or 1 1/2" pin. I don't exactly have a logo persay...except the one that I use on the cover of my patterns; but that really is just my name...and honestly, who wants my name on a pin.
Then I started wondering if it was time to re-brand.
Then the trees caught fire.
Should I take advantage of the Google Domain collaboration with Blogspot. It would give me a .com name minus the blogspot.
Yet, would I keep St. Louis Folk Victorian? While it is the government registered name of my business and has been the name of my blog for 8 years...does it reflect anything more then that.
Then what is going on with my social media handles. They are all @LoveOldHouses ; and while one could equate that with St. Louis Folk Victorian (they both reference "old houses")...is that okay?
Then I started looking at other bloggers I follow. Some of them are similiar in that they have a blog name different then social media handles, blog names that don't have anything to do with quilting even though they are quilty people, some of them still use the .blogspot, and yet some of them are switching over to more personalized .com websites.
I don't plan on ever being a "brand" myself; but maybe I do want to write a book one day, or have a booth at Quilt Market. Does any of that even matter?
And now as you can see...we have a full-fledged forest fire.
I'm exhausted, how about you...do you think about these things too? If anyone has suggestions on articles I should read, things that helped them make a decision, etc, I would love to hear about them.
P.S. In all that madness, I still never decided if I was going to participate in the pin swap..haha.
