We interrupt this Halloween... bring you tidings of Christmas.

If you are looking for the blog hop and giveaway for my INDEX quilt pattern, click here.

A while back, the team behind Fat Quarterly magazine, put out an open call for Designers looking to participate in one of their fabulous "Designer Challenges".  We were asked to create a Christmas Stocking using Maude Ashbury's "Tinsel" collection; which we would all be receiving lovely pieces of in the mail.

Now, while I had never made a Christmas Stocking before; I understood the construction behind it.  Yet, I didn't want to make any ol' I thought on it for quite some time and of course wanted something with a little pizazz.

If you'd like to make your own Christmas Stocking, go and check out Issue 11 of Fat will not be disappointed.  There are a handful of other amazing stocking designs, as well as lots of fun Christmas'sy items including a few quilts, a tree skirt, and so much more.

October's Quilt Blocks

This weekend I finished my bee blocks for the do.Good.Stitches bee, (Trust Circle).  Amber asked us to make Wonky star blocks using pink as the base and white for the stars.  A tutorial can be found here

She asked one of our members to volunteer to make a special star block that was different in shape, color, overall look, etc.  I volunteered and made the below block; sort of a scrappy twist on the above.  I used a similiar concept as the tutorial; but rather then start with just a single fabric, I made little patchwork pieces; which I in turn cut into.  I think it turned out "different enough"...and hopefully fits what Amber was envisioning.

In other news, I finished my 2nd Quilt Pattern this weekend too.  The pattern is called INDEX.  I used a Jelly Roll from Liz Scott titled Domestic Bliss and I couldn't be happier with the results.

I have ALOT of Family, Friends and wonderful Pattern Testers to Thank; as I couldn't have done it without them.  Check back here on Sunday as I share the quilt, start off a week-long Blog Hop and have a Giveway too.

Make it through October

Sorry for the lack of blog posts lately; but I've been buried under so much STUFF, that I could barely see the light at the end of the tunnel.  All I keep telling myself is just "Make it through October"...or in the words of Dory, "just keep swimming".

It's just been one thing after another between super long hours at the job, illness, deadlines, etc.

I'm happy to report that as of 3pm today, I've finished one of the BIG things on my list...the quilt and accompanying pattern that I made for Modern Quilts Unlimited's 2nd issue (due out in February).

In the meantime, I did want to share a quick photo of another Antique Mall treasure that I found a while ago; but forgot to share with you all.  I came across this old sewing table in a local Antique Mall booth, that just so happened to be having a 50% off sale.  I knew this little guy needed some work; but for the low-low price of $35 it was worth it...even if I had no real plans except to "Save It".
The bones were still good; but it needed a good cleaning, sanding, tightening up...and I despised those handles; they were the first thing to go.  Fast forward a couple of weeks and my Dad dropped this off to me.  Isn't it a beauty?
